The Tool Kit
There are some things you'll need and some things you'll want to have just to show off. There are also some things that sheilas use that you won't have to worry about because of your superior size and strength.
The ‘MUST HAVE's in your tool kit:
BBT: The ultimate baking accessory. Use it to wrap, grab, wipe, cover and flick. Get one here.
Sharp knife. The sharper the better. Get a whole chopping block full with different sizes. And don't let your wife use them. Say ‘Those are my baking knives!' whenever she tries it on.
Whisk. Handy to have a couple in different sizes - but you have to have at least one.
Muffin Tray. Here's no manly way to say that but there are different sizes. You need to get the ‘6' - as in a tray that makes 6 muffins. That's the way to make Man Sized muffins. ‘12's are for little girls and girly-men.
Cake Tin. 20cm is about the usual.
Chopping Board. Wooden please.
Measuring Mug. One of those tempered glass ones that shows you how much 250ml is. Get a big one that you can fit 2 full cups of flour in - it saves mucking around. In fact - I reckon it saves a lot of hassle to have two of these.
Bowls. A couple of these is all you need. Good and big so you can get your mitts in there from time to time.
Electric Egg Beater. This is your number 1 power tool! You could try using a drill attachment. Won't work - but it might be fun anyway.
The ‘SHOULD HAVE's in your tool kit:
Metal Bowl. Handy for doing things like slowly melting butter. Not essential because you can grab one of the pots from the cupboard and use that - but it makes life easier if one of your bowls is tin.
Wooden Spoon. Your normal metal spoons will do the job - but these things are good to have just because they're bigger. Man sized fists don't wrap properly around standard spoons when you've got to start stirring heavy dough.
Rolling Pin. If you don't have one use a wine bottle or grab a full sized Tui from the crate.
Measuring spoon. One of those little do-dads that measures out a ¼ and ½ teaspoon and a tablespoon and each fits inside the other. Let's face it - this is not essential but it means if you're doing something precise, you'll get it right.
Scales. There are just some recipes that need these things, unless you can figure out 40g of flour by holding it in your hand. Note: the best ones are the old fashioned ones - not the new digital battery operated jobs.
Spatula. Partly because it sounds like a Roman rebel who takes on the Caesar. 'I Spatula'. Also it's the best thing for getting all the icing out of the bowl.
The ‘DO NOT BE SEEN WITH THESE' in your tool kit:
A Pinny. Or apron or whatever you want to call it. Put an old sweatshirt and a pair of jeans on.
