Bacon and Egg Pie

Pre heat oven to the highest heat (yeah - maximum!), turn down to 200C.

First off make the pastry - much better than the supermarket stuff and real easy:

Sift the flour, dig a well in the centre and add lemon juice. Add the grated butter.

Add water to the flour - until it makes a dough that you can roll out with a rolling pin

Stick in the fridge for 1/2 hour or so, then roll out and place in a greased tin - flour the bench and don't roll too long

Filling:

Sprinkle lovingly (kidding, chuck it in) grated cheese on the bottom and then bacon pieces. Add whole eggs (not including the shell) and then jab the buggers so they go everywhere. Add more bacon and more egg until you're happy.

Add pastry top - jab holes and glaze with milk or egg.

Place pie in oven and cook for 20-30 minutes.

Bacon and Egg Pie - what do you reckon?

  • Great Pie, a good one for the blokes.
Didn't make the pastry, used store bought puff pastry sheets, worked out very well.
