Ginger Gems

Preheat the Gem Tin in the oven to 180C

Melt the butter and Golden Syrup together in the microwave.

Put all the dry ingredients in a bowl and work out lumps with fingers or fork.

Put milk and egg into melted butter and syrup.

Pour wet ingredients into dry and mix well.

Put a nob of butter into each gem mould and spread around.

Nearly fill each mould and bake for 20 - 25 mins.

  • Super super yummy, my family scoffed the lot! The recipe was perfect - they baked perfectly in 25mins. i added grated preserved ginger into mine....and 160g of golden syrup was correct

  • Hey - this is not on. I made these and they were a disaster. When I was measuring out the golden syrup I thought this is too much. It should read 2tab. (give or take a bit) but not 160g. The oven is now a mess and the end result fit for the chooks.

    Hey Liz ...not sure what happened. It's definitely 160g, which sounds like a lot. The batter should be quite runny. Not sure why the oven is a mess, but the amounts are right and it worked really well for me.
