Decadent Chocolate Cake

Mix the dry ingredients in a bowl. Mix the wet ingredients in a separate bowl and then combine both wet and dry ingredients.

Pour the mix into a pre-greased tin and cook at 180 degrees for 45 to 50 minutes.

Points to note about this cake mix...it is very moist and does take some cooking.  The 45-50 minutes is an approximate time and after this time is up, you will need to check that it is cooked through using a knife (poke the knife into the centre.  If the knife comes out wet with mix place back in the oven for a further 10-15 minutes or until the knife comes out dry).

Top with chocolate icing. Enjoy.

  • When the delicious very sloppy mixture went into the oven, I was convinced this was going to be an epic failure...HOW WRONG COULD I BE?? This is a fantastic cake both in looks and in taste. It certainly deserves the 5 stars :)

  • my mum taught me to cook and at 16yo I have made a Cookbook on CD. I have lots and lots of basic recipes that can be interchanged to make different tastes. my mum would like to help any blokes in whangarei area that want to learn how to cook. she believes baking should be compulsary in schools and she is willing to help you with budgeting and other advise as well. I'm thankful she taught me as most chicks today have no idea.

  • Hi, yes it is I again reporting on the success of my effort with this great cake, I baked it for my family in Feilding where my wife & I visited for the Queens Birtday weekend. The cake was so well recieved so it did not last too long. Wonderful cake indeed but reduce the salt to half a teaspoon and use a mixture of both instant and brewed coffee to make it a really delicious cake. Regards.

  • Very nice but I dont think it needs a teaspoon of salt, maybe a 1/4 or at most a 1/2 teaspoon.

  • Guys, you could at least use fresh REAL coffee, not that sticky dehydrated snuff they call "Instant Coffee" - would taste even MORE awesome. Will try it myself.
