Date and Orange Scones

Crank the oven up to 220 degrees Celsius.

Sift the flour and salt into a bowl.

Rub in the butter thoroughly.

Stir in the baking powder.

Add chopped dates and the 'zest' of the whole orange.

Make a well in the middle of the bowl and add  the milk.

Mix with a knife.

Spread mix on a board and flatten out to cut shapes.

Place on baking tray and cook for 12 minutes.

Date and Orange Scones - what do you reckon?

  • A variation... While the manderin tree is laden with fruit, I put in the sections from about four or five of these - adds in quite a zing... and a blokes teaspoon of cinnamon goes well also...

  • Scones not bad... What's your shortbread like?

Good! My wife likes the Choc shortbread too. Steve.
