Cake In a Mug

Get out a big coffee mug for this.

You're going to Zap this in the microwave so don't have to pre-heat the oven. Either grease your mug with butter or spray it with oil.

Add all of the dry ingredients to a large coffee mug and mix. Add the egg and combine well with a fork. Stir in milk and oil. Add chocolate chips and vanilla. Stir well.

Into the microwave. 1000W for about 2 mins 45s. 750/800W for 3 mins. All microwaves are a bit different but it should be about right. Watch it go round ... better than TV. And don't panic when it starts coming over the top - it'll calm down.

Eat with icecream if you have any.

Cake In a Mug - what do you reckon?

  • Excellent, easy enough for the kids to make. I use a big 2 cup pyrex measuring cup to cook it in, perfect size. Warning though for anyone trying to watch their weight, eat the whole thing (which is easy enough to do) and by my calculation you've just consumed close to 1000 calories.

  • Bloody delicious. I'm not sure why Steve thinks it's stiff because mine came out very tender and soft, and the melty chocolate chips settling at the bottom were WONDERFUL.
I did have to wipe out the microwave because it overflowed a bit, but not too badly. Exactly what I needed on a cold night with no other puddings in the house.
